The Fifth Global Education Doctoral Student Institute (GEDSI), which originated from the Asian Education Doctoral Student Institute (AEDSI), provides an inspiring platform for growth on this journey. Here, alongside peers from across Asia and beyond, you will collectively explore the theme of Research Beyond Boundaries, focusing on the development of Scholarly Judgement, Academic Voice, and Public Engagement.

 

In the midst of the transformative AI era, this event will illuminate your doctoral path, helping you transcend traditional academic borders and sparking new inspiration for your research!

 

From 15 to 16 December 2026, the Faculty of Education at East China Normal University (ECNU) and the Faculty of Education and Human Development at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) will once again join forces to deliver the Fifth GEDSI, designed specifically for doctoral students in the field of education.

Since 2022, doctoral students from both institutions have worked together to pioneer innovative approaches, exploring diverse pathways for growth through ongoing knowledge exchange and cross-disciplinary collaboration. This annual gathering has already benefited doctoral students from over 86 universities across more than 20 countries and regions. The torch has been passed, and the journey continues.

 

Join Us the Fifth GEDSI will be held at The Education University of Hong Kong (Tai Po Campus). Building upon the resources and networks of two leading educational institutions in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and grounded in the developmental needs of doctoral students with an Asian perspective and global outlook, the event will bring together distinguished scholars, international education peers, and outstanding doctoral alumni to advance the career development of education researchers worldwide!
